A Brief Overview of Me

Howdy, my name is Crispy. Well, actually that's just the online pseudonym I've decided to go by fairly recently. I'm a twenty something dude with a lot of nerdy special interests. I decided to make a NeoCities website because I got a bit fed up with how boring and cookie-cutter pretty much all of the internet is right now. Like seriously, if you've only been invested in the goings on of the internet after the 2010s, it's way different than it was when I was growing up. The "new" internet is so much more lame than it used to be. I grew up in the time when MySpace was basically the only form of social media and was a way to connect with irl friends and you were able to really express your personal interests and tastes in your profile alone. I do genuinely miss the creativity and originality of the old internet (and honestly the entire wacky expressive vibe of the 90s and 00s).

I'd like to think that I'm a fairly kind and down to earth person. I try not to judge others based on their interests or beliefs, and generally treat everyone the same. I don't really like being social, but that's not to say I don't enjoy talking to people every now and then. I have pretty severe social anxiety, but can hold a conversation and go out when I need to. I just have a tendency to think the worst about a social situation (this person doesn't like me, this person was kinda rude, I'm coming off as weird, etc.)

Interests

My primary interests include drawing (not very good, but working on improving), programming (I have a degree in Computer Engineering), music production (never released anything, but hope to release an album someday), and gaming (although honestly doing this a lot less as I get older). I love learning new things, and am almost never opposed to taking up new challenges. One of my fundamental (and probably most optimistic) beliefs is that anyone can learn to do anything. Pretty much anytime I find something interesting, I try to learn how to do said thing. At least to the most basic level of proficiency. This has lead to me being a sort of jack-of-all-trades, and a master of none. Sometimes this bothers me, but I try not to let that get to me, and focus on improving myself by doing what I can.

Music

My music taste varies pretty wildly. As a kid, my parents listened to a lot of nu-metal and rock. As such, these genres are basically my default when someone asks what type of music I listen to. However, as I've gotten older, my music tastes have expanded pretty drastically. My main genres include pop, rap, hip-hop, rock, metal, nu-metal, vocaloid, j-pop, j-rock, alternative, math-rock, prog-rock, hyperpop, dreampop, nightcore (sometimes), classic rock, and a few others. Recently, I've been pretty obsessed with various Hatsune Miku vocaloid artists, such as Utsu-P and DECO*27, and I'm a pretty big fan of Tatsuya Kitani and Creepy Nuts.

You can see more details about my listening habits at my last.fm profile, but my I'll update this section with my current top 10 songs.

Fandoms

Honestly, I have a hard time considering myself to be a part of many fandoms. For some reason, I feel like you can't be a true member of a fandom unless you contribute something to it. My only real contribution to some of these fandoms are artwork. That being said, I do have a few fandoms that I feel that I am either currently a part of, or was a part of at some point.

  • Team Fortress 2 (Would love if Valve paid any attention to this game anymore, but it's basically dead)
  • Dead by Daylight (though I don't really play much anymore)
  • Zenless Zone Zero (legit the only HoyoVerse game I like)
  • PCVR (Mostly Beat Saber)
  • My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (Was a brony in high school, but since the show ended, not really invested in this much anymore)
  • Anime (either very good, or very trashy)
  • Furry (though a bit in denial)

Why NeoCities?

My decision to make this website and explore NeoCities as a whole was mostly fueled by nostalgia. I had no idea about this side of the internet until I was randomly recommended a video talking about the "cooler internet." After surfing the NeoCities web, I found a bunch of really cool pages that inspired me to make the website you're exploring right now. NeoCities genuinely is keeping what I remember from the old internet alive. To be perfectly honest, I'm a pretty sporadic and easily distracted person. I originally made this website in December 2024, and didn't start updating this specific page until February 2025. It's not like I was particularly busy or anything, I just got invested in other hobbies.
